The Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz reported that an Israeli government committee composed of ministers Avi Dichter, Rafi Eitan and Jacob Edery approved renewed work on the bridge, over the objections of the Israeli foreign ministry.

The Sheikh denounced this action as a desecration of the Muslim holy site, linking it to other Israeli atrocities such as massacres.

Friday also marked the seventh anniversary of the beginning of the uprising. Tamimi said the Israli construction of a synagogue at this time amounted to a provocation of the Palestinians, and belied Israeli inte
